This is the beginning of my cooking journey. I've never really enjoyed cooking because I find it intimidating. Too many times I've come across a "beginner" recipe that calls for ingredients I've never heard of and kitchen tools I don't own. Over the last year, I did a lot of things I thought I could never do like quit my job, sell my house, move across the country, and colour my hair pink. Now it's time for a new challenge. The fear of failing stopped me from doing a lot of things I could have enjoyed. So I think it's only appropriate to start this new journey by starting with The Joy of Cooking by Irma Rombauer.
This cookbook has stood the test of time, I figure it's probably a good place to start. I hope somewhere along this journey I can find joy in cooking. My initial goal will be to try something new each week, either a recipe or technique from the book. So hopefully you can check in with me next week, in the new year on my first update of my cooking journey.
I'll leave you with this.
How do you make an apple turnover?
You push it down a hill!
